SMALL OIL AND COLD WAX abstract by Sally Fraser

Image
Using the palette knife and experimenting with oil and cold wax , I was able to change this piece of art into a more dynamic abstract. 'ANOTHER PEACH" is also a monotone work in the Southwestern colors that appeal to me. This contemporary painting is on a 9x12 board with one half inch sides. Updating Old Paintings

Image
Updating old paintings that have been around , now and then showing them, but finally realizing with new artistic eyes you begin to drag them out again and really look .  Some go in the trash. Hard to do.  I didn't give up on these two paintings and refreshed them , fixed what I thought were the problems . It was an outing to Fredericksburg one spring and we went to the Fredericksburg Gardens and what a picture of tons of wildflowers. I proceeded to paint two  oil  24x8 panels with two inch sides .   Okay, many years later they are still around.  Stacking them up for a photo, I realized they could sell like that, much more contemporary looking. With some minor adjustments these paintings are now worthy, I think! www.sallyfraserfineart.com sngfraser @gmail.com     Price  $250 for both Does not include shipping.

Abstract with Southwestern Colors by Sally Fraser

Image
URBAN ENERGY   Warm Southwestern colors are used in this dramatic oil abstract on a wrapped canvas. This one will not fade out in your décor. Art should make a statement don't you think?  Also, I believe I will change the title to Uptown Energy. Do you like that title?  The size is dramatic also being 30x24. Look closely to all the different plays on the color themes and various yellows to siena, maroons to brown and small pops of turquoise and other vague colors appear. www.sallyfraserfineart.com                               sngfraser @gmail.com

A new cactus abstract "CACTUS DRAMA "

Image
CACTUS DRAMA   A palette knife painting on a 24x24 wrapped canvas. Dramatizing the size of the cactus paddle for a more abstract look and using a lot of texture with the palette knife. Living here in Austin, Texas spring brings lovely blossoms from the Tunas. Various cactuses abound all over the Hill Country and many are used for yard landscaping. Cactuses are very Southwestern and a regional type of art ...................! Sally Fraser    sngfraser @gmail.com       www.sallyfraserfineart.com

DYNAMICS  by Sally Fraser What a great feeling to see a painting improved . When your eyes and your mind can analyze an abstract in a more informed artistic manner, because of training, this art was transformed recently. Acrylic on a 14x11 canvas board, many layers, with transparent harmonious colors and angles has a dynamic look.   Soon after I changed  this painting  it was SOLD.  A word to the wise, dont be afraid to change a painting !       more abstracts go to www.sngfineart.com .       sngfraser @gmail.com
